Candle Care Guide

First Burn Matters

Did you know wax has a memory? The first time you light your candle determines its lifespan and burn quality. Follow these steps for the perfect first burn:

  • Allow the wax to melt evenly to the edges of the jar. This can take 2–4 hours.
  • Avoid blowing out the candle too soon – doing so may cause tunnelling, leading to wasted wax and an uneven burn.
  • Once the melted wax reaches the edge, you can safely extinguish the flame.


Wick Trimming

Keeping your wick trimmed is essential for a clean and even burn:

  • Trim the wick to 5mm before each burn.
  • If the wick mushrooms at the tip after burning, snip it off with sharp scissors.
  • Always remove trimmed wick debris before relighting to prevent soot and excessive smoke.


Safe Burning Practices

Ensure a safe and efficient burn by following these guidelines:

  • Keep your candle away from draughts to prevent uneven burning.
  • Burn candles in a well-ventilated space but away from direct airflow.
  • Never leave a candle unattended.
  • Avoid burning for more than 4 hours at a time to prevent the jar overheating.
  • Stop burning when 5mm of wax remains in the jar to prevent fire hazards.
